Ryan Bricker advises clients in all aspects of trademark, copyright, and Internet law. His practice is focused on litigation in these fields, as well as related commercial issues.  As part of this practice, Mr. Bricker has litigated a wide variety of trademark and trade dress disputes, as well as cases involving the Digital Millennium Copyright Act the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, the Communications Decency Act, and various state right of publicity and unfair competition statutes.

Ryan is dedicated to crafting thoughtful and creative IP litigation strategies for his clients, delivering practical advice that serves business goals, and balancing legal objectives with his clients' expectations of the way they are presented in the public forum. Apart from litigation, Ryan has developed and directs international intellectual property enforcement programs for some of the world’s best known brands and content creators.  In connection with these programs, he regularly counsels clients on issues related to monitoring and policing avenues of e-commerce and web-based marketplaces, uncovering and combating piracy problems, and securing domain names through a variety of domain name dispute processes.

Ryan has been recognized for his work in the intellectual property space by Super Lawyers magazine for the past six years.


Secured dismissal of an anticipatory declaratory relief filing, and represented an apparel client in trademark infringement and dilution action against a competitor using a similar design trademark.

Successfully litigated trademark infringement and dilution claims for a technology client against a cryptocurrency and blockchain VC company that adopted a name incorporating the client's brand.

Represented digital camera manufacturer in trademark infringement and dilution claims against an accessory developer, navigating barricades to settlement related to the defendant's insurance coverage and ultimately securing a favorable, court-approved settlement and injunction.

Successfully represented apparel client in copyright infringement litigation against a reseller who misappropriated product photos and asserted DMCA counter-notifications to frustrate takedown efforts.

Secured a dismissal and attorney fee award in lawsuit for an apparel client involving terminated distributor asserting counterclaims for antitrust violations, deceptive franchise practices and dealer termination claims.

Represented tequila producer in ICC arbitration involving disputes under tequila supply and distribution agreement.

Represented Williams-Sonoma, Inc. against trademark infringement claims rooted in an initial interest confusion theory based on the retailer’s display of goods in its search engine results, culminating in a favorable settlement.

Secured an injunction and significant damages award for an apparel client in AAA arbitration against a former licensee involving trademark infringement, breach of contract, and tortious interference claims.

Represented Instagram in trademark infringement and breach of contract litigation against a user of Instagram’s API Platform.

Represented Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC in a copyright and DMCA infringement litigation involving its PlayStation® family and more. Successfully obtained preliminary injunction.

Advised GED Testing Service LLC in supporting FTC investigation and prosecution of fraudulent high school “diploma mill” syndicates.

Represented NFL Properties and its member clubs in securing a broad temporary restraining order and seizure order, permitting law enforcement to seize counterfeit tickets and goods sold at and around Super Bowl 50.
