Insights: News Releases Kilpatrick Townsend Among Nation's Best in Patexia's ITC Intelligence Report
ATLANTA (March 10) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today that the firm was ranked among the country’s top law firms in the inaugural ITC Intelligence Report released by Patexia, an IP analytics company and a global online platform for IP attorneys.
Utilizing data from the 308 U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) Section 337 investigations filed from 2014 through 2019, the ITC Intelligence Report drew its rankings from some 400 law firms, 7,600 attorneys and more than 1,600 companies that were active before the Commission during those five years.
Kilpatrick Townsend, with 20 investigations, made all six firm ranking categories for activity and performance, including top 20 rankings in multiple categories. The firm ranked as the 20th Most Active ITC firm overall, and the 21st Best Performing law firm for representing complainants. IP Watchdog’s coverage of the report noted that under Josh Pond’s leadership, a partner in the firm’s Washington, D. C., office, Kilpatrick Townsend has posted the biggest growth of any law firm since 2014. Patexia further ranked Mr. Pond among the top 40 Most Active practitioners before the Commission.
According to Patexia CEO Pedram Sameni, patent litigation cases involving the ITC can represent a multi-million dollar investment for companies. Their choice of counsel is critical to the outcome, so companies need reliable data to evaluate attorneys and law firms, rather than only relying on referrals.
“Patexia's top ITC firms represent the best of the best before the Commission—we are thrilled the data places Kilpatrick Townsend with such an august group,” said Josh Pond, who co-leads Kilpatrick Townsend’s ITC Section 337 team. “Even better to see a number of our clients amongst the Best Performing companies before the Commission."
With more than 300 attorneys dedicated to patent, trademark, copyright, advertising, and trade secrets law, Kilpatrick Townsend boasts a self-sufficient IP practice backed by the resources and capabilities of a full-service law firm. Frequently recognized by in-house counsel and independent ranking services, Kilpatrick Townsend’s IP attorneys are considered thought leaders in the field and the top choice for representation by many known brands in the U.S. and around the world.
