Free Choice Vouchers Repealed

The legislative language concerning the recent Congressional and White House budget compromise was released this evening.  Section 1858 of the bill repeals the so-called free choice voucher requirement of PPACA. This provision previously required employers beginning January 1, 2014 to provide vouchers for certain employees whose employer-provided health insurance premiums exceeded certain cost thresholds. The vouchers could then be used to purchase coverage in the exchanges. This voucher requirement will no longer apply if the budget compromise is officially passed by the House and Senate.
