Maureen Sheehy is the Managing Partner for the firm's San Francisco office. She focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, fintech, and unfair competition and antitrust matters. Ms. Sheehy has extensive experience leading litigation teams in both federal and state courts, as well as before the United States International Trade Commission. Her business litigation experience includes representation of clients in antitrust, business torts, breach of fiduciary duties, officer and director liabilities and related indemnification claims as well as a range of unfair competition matters, whether individual or representative actions. She has also handled a range of intellectual property matters ranging from trade secret theft claims to licensing disputes and patent infringement claims. Whether representing a Fortune 50 company or a privately held company, Ms. Sheehy works with the client to develop a strategy that is built around the client’s business needs and objectives. She currently acts as Co-Chair of our Financial Services Industry team.

Ms. Sheehy was Managing Partner of Kilpatrick Townsend and a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee from 2011-2013. Prior to its merger with Kilpatrick Stockton, Ms. Sheehy served as Managing Partner and Chair of Townsend and Townsend and Crew, making her one of the few women to lead an AmLaw 200 law firm. During her tenure, Ms. Sheehy developed a firm-wide Client Service Initiative, established merit-based compensation for associates and created the department attorney position, a unique and innovative talent model at the firm. She also spearheaded the successful merger of Townsend and Townsend and Crew and Kilpatrick Stockton to form Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Sheehy was a partner at a litigation boutique firm in Emeryville, California. Ms. Sheehy was recognized as a Northern California "Super Lawyer" for Intellectual Property Litigation in 2012 and for Business Litigation in 2017 and the four years immediately preceding by Super Lawyers magazine.


Lead mass action asserting civil rights claims on behalf of group of homeless individuals pro bono against municipality to halt illegal eviction. Successfully resolved with resettlement payments to individual plaintiffs. (N.D. Cal.)

Represented international law firm sued for malpractice related to foreign patent filing; concluded with a favorable settlement. (San Francisco Superior Court)

Defend innovative online advertising and directory publishing company in Unfair Practices Act case brought by regional directory publisher, alleging below cost pricing and secret discount claims. (Fresno Superior Court)

Successfully defended Korean petrochemical company against charges of infringement; obtained decision of non-infringement after bench trial, upheld by full Commission. In re Certain Antidegradants, Components Thereof and Products Containing Same. (International Trade Commission)

Prosecute breach of fiduciary duty claims against former trustee. (San Francisco Superior Court)

Successfully defended proposed class action indirect purchaser cases filed across the country. Credit/Debit Card Tying Cases. (San Francisco Superior Court)

Defended proposed class action lawsuit alleging wage and hour violations. (N.D. Cal.)

Successfully defended trade secret misappropriation claims on behalf of former company founder and entrepreneur. (N.D. Cal.)

Represented a green technology company in licensing dispute and prosecuted cross-claim for breach of warranty and fraud. Clean Heat LLC v. Enviro-Log Inc. (State of California, Shasta County Superior Court, No. 173130) (2011).

Represent trustees in an investigation by authorities into activities of former trustee of personal trust. (D. Alaska)

Obtained early summary dismissal of ITC patent infringement investigation on collateral estoppel grounds, subsequently upheld by full Commission. In re Certain Rubber Antidegradants, Antidegradant Intermediates and Products Containing The Same. (International Trade Commission)

Represent manufacturing concern in licensing dispute with sub-licensor. (Ben Hill County Superior Court, Georgia)

Successfully pursued statutory and contractual claims for indemnification by former officer and director; case concluded with a favorable settlement. (Delaware Chancery Court)

Prosecute professional negligence claims against former Big 5 accounting firm and foreign affiliates. (San Diego Superior Court)

Prosecute antitrust and unfair competition claims on behalf of maritime operator against its primary competitor, concluding with a successful settlement during trial. (San Francisco Superior Court)

Successfully defended follow-on damages patent infringement action against Korean petrochemical concern by defeating claims on summary judgment. (N.D. Ohio)
