John Jett focuses his practice on commercial and intellectual property litigation. He represents individuals and companies, as both plaintiffs and defendants, in disputes before state and federal courts as well as in arbitration. John primarily represents intellectual property owners operating in the retail, franchising, technology, and entertainment industries. Representative clients include AT&T, Aaron’s, Fidelity Information Systems, Global Cellular, Morehouse University, NewPoint Media, the Estate of Martin Luther King, Jr., Gladys Knight, and ThinkFactory Productions. While representing plaintiffs, he has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of deserving businesses and individuals. While representing defendants, he has defeated numerous major claims, often through dismissals or summary judgments.

John has served as first chair at trial, arbitration, and on appeal. Many of his cases have presented complicated contractual issues, including disputes about license agreements, restrictive covenants, and leases. He is likewise experienced in litigating statutory claims, including suits arising from the theft of trade secrets, false advertising, unfair trade practices, as well as laws designed to protect consumers, such as the TCPA, FDCPA, and FCRA. John has successfully represented defendants in more than a dozen class actions throughout the United States.

John has devoted many hundreds of hours to the firm's pro bono efforts. He has represented charitable organizations (e.g., the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, the Atlanta History Center, and Compassion House) and persons of low income in proceedings across Georgia in matters ranging from federal civil rights to DUI defense.

John is also involved in the bar and the community. He is the 2019-2020 President of the Atlanta Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, past co-chair of the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Georgia's Younger Lawyers Division, and a graduate of the Anti-Defamation League’s Glass Leadership Program.

Clients have described John as an “effective, ethical, and highly professional civil litigator” with “excellent legal and professional judgment,” and an “outstanding advocate” who “cares deeply about his clients.” In 2020, clients named John as a "BTI Client Service All-Star" in recognition of his client service excellence. John has been selected by his peers to act as a private mediator, and he has also served as a court-appointed special master in both federal and state court. John was honored for making significant career achievements and demonstrating social responsibility in 2019 with Atlanta Business Chronicle's “40 Under Forty” Award. He was recognized in 2021 by The Best Lawyers in America® for Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property Litigation. John was named a "Legal Eagle" in 2021 by Franchise Times.
