Counsel Alan Dow Joins Firm
MENLO PARK (March 27) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today the addition of Alan Dow, Ph.D. to the firm's Silicon Valley office. Dr. Dow is joining as Counsel in the firm’s internationally recognized Intellectual Property Group's Chemistry and Life Sciences Team.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Dow was Vice President of Intellectual Property and Legal Affairs at Complete Genomics, Inc., a life sciences company in Mountain View, California, managing its legal affairs, including intellectual property, transactions, litigation, and other legal matters. In addition, Dr. Dow served as Vice President of Intellectual Property for BGI-Shenzhen, which acquired Complete Genomics in 2013. BGI-Shenzhen, headquartered in Shenzhen, China, is the world’s largest genomics services company, providing sequencing and bioinformatics services and systems for research, medical, agricultural, and environmental applications. As part of BGI, Complete Genomics is an R&D center of excellence, building next-generation sequencing systems and applications. Since 1994, Dr. Dow has been an intellectual property attorney in patent boutiques, large general practice law firms, and in-house with a multinational life science company.
Dr. Dow earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School. He received his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences (Genetics) from Harvard University and his B.S., with High Distinction, in Chemistry from the University of Maine at Orono.
