Sean Parmenter is a registered patent attorney who focuses his practice on patent prosecution for innovations in the fields of software and electronics, offensive/defensive portfolio planning and strategic counseling with respect to patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret utilization and counseling on open source issues. Mr. Parmenter has prepared numerous appeals and noninfringement opinions, as well as participated in patent litigation and related mediations.
Mr. Parmenter has a wide range of experience in several areas of cutting-edge technology, including archival storage systems; client/server applications; computer-generated imagery; computer animation; compiler and operating system design; databases; encryption and other security-related technologies; electronic design automation; image processing hardware and software techniques (including JPEG and MPEG encoding); Internet technologies; telecom-related technologies; voice over IP technologies; and wired and wireless networking technologies.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Parmenter was a patent attorney with Carr & Ferrell LLP, a firm specializing in venture backed start-up and growth companies.
Prior to joining the legal profession, Mr. Parmenter was a software and network systems engineer. He was introduced to the legal services industry while working as a template developer for the HotDocs document automation software by Capsoft Development, which was acquired by Matthew Bender & Company and later Reed Elsevier Inc. to become part of the LexisNexis Group.
