Tiffany Thomas is a registered patent agent who focuses her practice on patent prosecution, counseling and management for companies, universities and institutions of all sizes in the areas of life sciences, medical technology, chemistry and biotechnology.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Thomas was a patent agent with an Atlanta IP law firm. In addition to her law firm experience, Dr. Thomas worked in-house as a senior patent agent at Illumina, Inc. in San Diego, California, a global leader in the development and manufacture of life science tools and integrated systems for large-scale DNA, RNA and protein analysis. This experience added to her depth of knowledge in the areas of competitive landscape analysis, due diligence, freedom-to-operate, opinion writing and patent portfolio counseling and management.

Dr. Thomas earned her doctorate in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2004 from Emory University with Dr. Paul Doetsch, Emory University School of Medicine’s Distinguished Chair in Cancer Research and Associate Director for Basic Research at the Winship Cancer Institute. Her doctoral thesis was titled, “Investigation of the interrelationships between the DNA repair and damage tolerancy pathways in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.”
