Susan Tarnower concentrates her practice in the area of commercial real estate. She focuses on special servicing and servicing issues and the resolution of non-performing and sub-performing loans. Ms. Tarnower’s experience ranges from forbearances, work-outs, deeds-in-lieu, short sales and discounted pay-offs to receiverships, foreclosures, confirmation hearings and the pursuit of deficiencies against borrowers and guarantors. She has extensive experience in loan originations, including conduit and agency loans and securitizations. Ms. Tarnower also handles commercial leasing transactions.
Ms. Tarnower’s industry background includes eight years as in-house counsel for GMAC Commercial Mortgage Corporation (previously Capmark Services, L.P.) and AMRESCO. She gained a wide-ranging knowledge of commercial and agency loan origination, securitization and servicing practices acting in this capacity. While Assistant General Counsel at the Atlanta Housing Authority, Ms. Tarnower expanded her experience in HUD lending and other regulatory matters.
Ms. Tarnower is active in the MBA and with ACMA on committees addressing the impact of Dodd-Frank on lending practices. In 2011, she was recognized by the prestigious
Legal 500 US in the area of Real Estate.
