Brett Mellor focuses his practice on patent prosecution and counseling in the areas of electronics and software. Dr. Mellor’s areas of expertise include electrical biosensors, circuits, wireless communications systems, signal processing, dielectric spectroscopy, automation, medical instrumentation, and molecular dynamics.

Dr. Mellor worked with the firm as a summer associate in 2014. While attending law school, he served as a staff member of the Virginia Journal of Law and Technology.

While attending Brigham Young University, Dr. Mellor’s Ph.D. research was focused on developing electrical circuits capable of detecting the presence of biological objects in liquids. His publications were recognized by the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Fellowship Award and the BYU Graduate Fellowship Award. Dr. Mellor’s research on electrical biosensors has been widely cited and presented at numerous conferences in the United States and Europe.

Dr. Mellor is fluent in Portuguese and conversational in Spanish.
