Bill Lane focuses his practice on environmental regulatory counseling and litigation. He has advised industries, trade associations, and real estate developers on a broad range of environmental issues, including permitting, compliance and enforcement, administrative appeals, civil litigation, and the development of statutes and regulations. Mr. Lane has represented and advised clients on matters pertaining to air quality (including the regulation of greenhouse gas emissions), water quality, waste management, brownfields redevelopment, renewable energy, and sustainable business practices. Mr. Lane is a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) in North Carolina. Before attending law school, he spent five years working in the environmental consulting industry.
Mr. Lane was recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® for Environmental Law in 2013 and the six years immediately preceding. He was named to Business North Carolina's "Legal Elite" list for 2009 and 2013 as one of North Carolina's top environmental attorneys. He was listed as a 2008, 2012 and 2013 North Carolina "Super Lawyer" in the area of Environmental Law by SuperLawyers magazine. Mr. Lane is listed in the 2012 edition of Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business for Environmental Law.
