Kyle Brown is a patent agent and focuses his practice on intellectual property matters for clients in the technology and software industries. Dr. Brown has handled matters in a variety of fields and industries, including semiconductors, material science, optics, software and electronics. He has extensive experience with a wide range of analytical tools and phenomena in the industry, including dark-field and bright-field optical microscopy, inelastic optical scattering, FTIR, LEDs, optical waveguides and couplers, spectroscopic ellipsometry, interferometry, SEM, EELS, LEED, AES, numerical methods and their implementation within software.

Dr. Brown frequently works on patent applications pertaining to semiconductor manufacturing technology. These patent applications most often involve chemical mechanical polishing, etching, PE-CVD, HDP-CVD, SACVD, PVD, EPI, RTP, ALD, PSI, photolithography, photoresist processing, optical metrology including critical dimension and overlay measurements, defect inspection, substrate cleaning and rotary run-out metrology.

Dr. Brown has more than 10 years of experience developing semiconductor and magnetic-media manufacturing equipment. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a process engineer, systems engineer and research scientist.
