Jim Sangston concentrates his practice on patents, focusing on both patent litigation as well as prosecution of patents in the electrical arts and mechanical arts.
Dr. Sangston's litigation experience includes defending clients in various electrical technologies, including cellular telephones, communication antennas, call center technologies, GPS and other navigational devices as well as in non-electrical technologies, including clinical trial data collection and employee incentive programs. Dr. Sangston's patent prosecution activities have been directed primarily at electrical arts, including fiber optics, microprocessors and other computer-related activities, and signal processing. In addition, Dr. Sangston has provided counseling and opinions to various clients in electrical technologies as well as medical device technologies.
Prior to law school, he worked for Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) as a Senior Engineer doing radar target imaging and target identification analyses. Additionally, he worked at Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., where he worked in the Radar Division doing radar systems analyses and basic radar research in target detection and electromagnetic scattering.
