Stephen Baskin is the Managing Partner of the firm's Washington, D.C. office. With more than 15 years of experience litigating complex intellectual property matters, Mr. Baskin specializes in patent litigation. Mr. Baskin has significant first chair experience representing a wide variety of companies, from large multinational corporations to small technology and start up companies, and various other entities in patent disputes. He is regularly involved in representing companies in disputes related to electrical, computer software, telecommunications, mechanical and business method patents.
Mr. Baskin also has extensive experience representing financial services, software and technology companies in other complex litigation, including the enforcement of trade secrets and non-competition agreements, high stakes complex business litigation and managing internal corporate investigations. He was significantly involved in representing a publicly traded company in a bid rigging antitrust investigation in which amnesty was sought and obtained with the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice, and also represented a professional football player in a National Football League steroid investigation that involved corresponding congressional and U.S. Attorney investigations.
Mr. Baskin is very involved in the community and public affairs. He chairs the Corporate Executive Council for the American Cancer Society, and serves on the Boards of Directors for Thanks USA and D.C. Appleseed.
Mr. Baskin has been interviewed on several occasions about the successful growth of the firm's D.C. office during the past several years. In 2008, Mr. Baskin was named as one of the up and coming "Top Lawyers" in Washington, D.C. by the Washington Business Journal.
