Leading E-Discovery Attorney Joins Firm from Bank of America

WINSTON-SALEM (November 6) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today the addition of Craig D. Cannon to the Winston-Salem office. Mr. Cannon is joining as Counsel and will have a firm-wide role in managing e-discovery matters. He will be a member of the Litigation Department.

“Craig brings nearly 15 years of hands-on litigation and e-discovery experience to the firm,” said Jim Gilliland, Kilpatrick Townsend Litigation Department Chair. “As a result of the explosive growth in electronically stored information, the management of electronic information is a growing critical issue for our clients with significant business, legal, and technology ramifications. Kilpatrick Townsend clients will benefit from Craig’s deep and diverse background and perspective as in-house and outside legal counsel for some of the nation’s leading corporate entities.”

Mr. Cannon comes to Kilpatrick Townsend after serving as Bank of America’s Global Discovery Counsel. At Bank of America, he built out and managed a team of e-discovery attorneys and paralegals that assisted with internal, regulatory and legal e-discovery matters (including material litigation matters). He also had responsibility for developing and implementing global frameworks, policies and procedures covering a variety of e-discovery related topics (e.g., cross border data transfer, EU privacy standards, Bank Secrecy Act, SARs, electronic data destruction, digitization of paper records, etc.).

Prior to joining Bank of America, Mr. Cannon served as Branch Banking and Trust’s Discovery Counsel/Senior Litigation Attorney and was a business and IP litigator with another AmLaw 100 law firm.

Professionally, Mr. Cannon has held several key bar leadership positions, including serving as the National Director of the ABA’s Disaster Legal Services Program and as the Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division. He has also been active in pro bono activities and is a past recipient of the ABA’s prestigious Pro Bono Publico Award.

Mr. Cannon is a graduate of the University of Iowa (B.A., J.D.), the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (M.B.A.) and the Stonier National Graduate School of Banking at the University of Pennsylvania.
