WASHINGTON, DC (October 21)Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton announced today the addition of Sonia Baldia to the firm’s Global Sourcing and Technology (GST) Team. Ms. Baldia joins Kilpatrick Townsend as a Partner.  She will practice in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.

"Sonia is a significant addition to our international Global Sourcing and Technology team,” said Jim Steinberg, Kilpatrick Townsend Global Sourcing and Technology Team Chair. “In order to serve the growing needs of our clients, we have been particularly interested in adding someone of Sonia’s stature to our team in Washington, D.C.  She brings substantial expertise in sourcing, technology, and intellectual property and technology transfers.”

Mr. Steinberg added, “Sonia will also leverage her years of experience working with some of the world’s leading corporate entities conducting business in India to expand the GST Team’s U.S.-India practice.”

Ms. Baldia joins Kilpatrick Townsend from Widener University School of Law were she was an Associate Professor of Law. She previously was a key partner focusing on global sourcing at an international law firm and consistently recognized by Chambers USA as a leading IT and sourcing lawyer. Ms. Baldia’s practice at Kilpatrick Townsend will include counseling  U.S. and international clients on structuring and negotiating outsourcing transactions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, ERP licensing and systems integration transactions, and the commercialization and utilization of technology. She has represented a wide variety of U.S. corporations in different industry sectors as lead counsel in complex, global sourcing transactions.

Ms. Baldia will also work with clients on intellectual property matters in corporate transactions, such as acquisitions, sales or transfers of intellectual property assets in joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions and divestitures. Ms. Baldia is a registered patent attorney at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and at the Indian Patent Office.

Ms. Baldia earned her S.J.D. in Intellectual Property Law from George Washington University Law School, an LL.M. from the University of Georgia School of Law, and an LL.B. from the University of Delhi Faculty of Law in New Delhi, India.  She received her B.S. in Chemistry and Biology from Punjabi University.  Ms. Baldia was a Research Scholar at the Max Planck Institute for International Patent, Copyright & Competition Law in Munich, Germany.  She is a frequent writer and speaker on global sourcing and IP/technology transfer topics.
