ATLANTA (September 25) – Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton Partner Neal Sweeney announced today the release of the 2012 Construction Law Update. The 2012 edition marks his 21st year as editor of this highly regarded resource on important legal impacts on the construction industry. Mr. Sweeney has 30 years experience in construction law and federal government contracts with a further concentration in major infrastructure and industrial projects, including major PPP transportation projects and innovative clean energy projects with a cumulative value of almost $10 billion. Mr. Sweeney is consistently recognized as one of the leading construction lawyers in the United States, including in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers, The Best Lawyers in America and Georgia Super Lawyers.

The Construction Law Update chronicles the important developments and trends that impact construction law practitioners and industry decision makers. Each chapter is authored by one or more experts and key thought leaders with unique insight into the topic.

The first five chapters of the 2012 edition provide in-depth analysis and commentary on issues of importance to the construction industry such as an in-depth look at how the Federal Boards of Contract Appeals and the Court of Federal Claims address construction claims; an analysis of the state of the construction market including recent trends and projections; a discussion of the intricacies of insuring against the costs associated with being the target of a federal investigation; developments affecting the labor market including recent appointments to the National Labor Relations Board and the impact of employee social media activity; and recent legal, regulatory, and political developments impacting how storm water and wetlands regulation will affect project permitting and compliance.

As in past years, the final seven chapters provide valuable surveys of developments on construction-related issues in Federal contracting and in the six geographic regions of the country in-depth. These chapters and the insight of the contributing authors who craft them each year provide the foundation on which the success of the Update rests.

Contributing authors include Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton attorneys John Alden, Randy Hafer, Ed Kneisel, Susan Richardson, Frank Bigelis, Robert Hensley, Jr., Michael Rosenberg, Danny Swaja, and Jon Taunton.
