WINSTON-SALEM (July 7) -- Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton attorneys Jeffrey Skinner, Sarah Lowe and Sterling Perkinson recently led a seminar regarding processes companies sponsoring 401(k) or traditional pension plans should put in place to meet their fiduciary duties under ERISA, as well as important considerations in negotiating investment contracts. They also discussed meeting new retirement plan disclosure requirements from the Department of Labor, and key legal due diligence considerations for pension plans making hedge fund, private equity fund or real estate fund investments. Special guests Jeremy Deleski and Tanner Robinson of Oppenheimer & Co. also provided their insights and perspective as part of the presentation.

The free seminar was held at Kilpatrick Townsend’s Winston-Salem office and provided CLE credit to attendees.

Jeffrey Skinner, a partner in Kilpatrick Townsend’s Winston-Salem office, focuses his practice on investment management, SEC regulations and securities offerings. Mr. Skinner has extensive experience assisting clients with ongoing investment adviser and securities law compliance responsibilities, both on the federal and state level. He provides counsel and business advice to public companies on SEC filings, corporate governance and disclosure matters on a regular basis. 

Sarah Lowe, a partner in Kilpatrick Townsend’s Atlanta office, focuses her practice on employee benefits, with an emphasis in the areas of qualified plans, related ERISA fiduciary issues and pension plan investments. Ms. Lowe regularly reviews and negotiates provisions of pension plan investments on behalf of large pension funds, including hedge funds and other alternative investments.

Sterling Perkinson, an associate in Kilpatrick Townsend’s Raleigh office, focuses his practice in the areas of qualified retirement plans, health & welfare plans, executive compensation, pension plan investments and ERISA fiduciary issues. Prior to law school, Mr. Perkinson worked for three years as an accountant for a global accounting firm.
