"Update on Consumer Financial Services," 26th Annual Festival of Legal Learning, Sponsored by University of North Carolina School of Law, February 2016.

This session addresses recent developments and trends in state and federal consumer protection laws governing the financial services industry. The session provides a brief introduction to the primary sources of consumer financial services litigation and a discussion of recent developments in the law, including the NC Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and other similar statutes and regulations. We will also present various strategies and approaches to resolving these matters when they are presented in civil litigation or as regulatory enforcement actions.
