Kilpatrick Townsend has been a stalwart of the San Francisco legal community for nearly 150 years. Founded in the wake of the California Gold Rush to serve the legal needs of technology innovators and risk-takers, the San Francisco office is Kilpatrick Townsend’s largest office on the U.S. West Coast, providing a full range of intellectual property services in addition to antitrust and commercial litigation.

Throughout its long history in one of America’s most innovative cities, the San Francisco office has continually reinvented and adapted itself to dramatic changes that have shaped the region’s economy. The office survived the 1906 Earthquake, the Great Depression and the ‘dot.com bust,’ only to emerge stronger and more resilient than in years past.

The San Francisco office is serious about its responsibility to serve the needs of those who lack access to the justice system. Through pro bono activities and financial contributions, the office supports the efforts of organizations such as the Legal Aid Society–Employment Law Center, the Bar Association of San Francisco Foundation, the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area, Legal Communities Against Violence, and the AIDS Legal Referral Panel, among many others. In the spirit of giving that characterizes San Francisco, office staff frequently organize and participate in community outreach efforts on behalf of the San Francisco Food Bank, organizing food drives and volunteer efforts throughout the year.
